Greetings from Montevideo! We had a busy week, visited the City Hall building and had a look at the city from the 22nd floor, went to a city-sponsored day care center and told stories and songs with the little ones. Our students did a great job and had fun playing with finger puppets.

On Friday, we went to Piriapolis and Punta del Este with Crandon students. It was a good weekend and we had the opportunity to get to know the students who will be visiting us in February.

After a rainy weekend with the families. Students resumed activities in Crandon on Monday. We welcomed Iiyanna and Rylie who joined the group on Tuesday. On Monday, students worked with a local artist to create puppet fingers that we will use tomorrow when we go to tell stories to young children at a day care center.
Yesterday, students drummed! We went to Tamborilearte, where Fernando, local musician, taught them how to play Candombe.
Everybody had a blast and they sounded pretty well actually! Here are some pics for you to enjoy.
Today we will go to City Hall, Mercado de los artesanos and we'll explore a little bit of the downtown area.
And special kudos to Ry and Iiyanna who got off the plane and decided to jump right into drumming (despite the long flight!!)

In Uruguay - First days

Hello everyone!

We arrived safely in Montevideo after a long but nice flight. Yesterday we had a packed day with introductions to Crandon life, classes, and a nice welcome dinner.
We also had our city tour and visited a few places in Montevideo. We went to El Cerro and La Fortaleza, El Prado, Museo Blanes and el Jardín japonés.
Today we resumed classes in Crandon and students were going home for the weekend with their families.
Everyone is enjoying our time here and the kids are tired but happy. They discovered the "Panadería" (Bakery) today and they thought it was the best!
Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy
